Organizational History
As an organization we have always been steadfastly focused on reducing poverty, continually refining our approach while remaining guided by our faith. Over the years, we've seen our journey evolve from initially addressing immediate crises with temporary fixes to adopting a more transactional approach. However, what has become increasingly evident is that true change requires transformation at its core. We recognized the importance of addressing the root causes of poverty rather than merely alleviating its symptoms.
This approach is resonated in our updated Mission Statement:
βTo coordinate a collaborative and comprehensive approach to poverty reduction to transform lives and help families thrive.β
Over the years, we have found a greater need in our community for the programs we provide through Bridges Out of Poverty and our efforts to create Upward Mobility for our residents using the framework of Urban Institute. Our Poverty Reduction efforts are focused through the following programs: Getting Ahead Classes, Creating Upward Mobility and Poverty Reduction Workshops.
While much has changed with our organization over the last few years, much remains the same. This includes our support of the efforts of our faith community and a continued desire to work in partnership with a variety of community organizations to reduce poverty and create upward mobility for all residents.
