Bridges to Prosperity Northern Illinois equips individuals, organizations and communities with proven tools, training, and strategies to reduce poverty, strengthen systems, and improve outcomes. We uniquely combine participant driven cohort programs, cross sector systems change, and organizational consulting, creating measurable results for both individuals and the communities that serve them.

Building Pathways to Stability and Self-Sufficiency
Through our Getting Ahead classes, we equip under-resourced neighbors with the tools, relationships, and strategies needed to build stability and move toward long-term self-sufficiency. Over the past four years, more than 225 individuals have graduated from the program, achieving meaningful and measurable outcomes: a 43% increase in income, a 44% reduction in debt, 59% pursuing additional education, and 24% reporting a decreased reliance on state or federal benefits.
A First-of-Its-Kind Strategy for Upward Mobility in Winnebago County
In partnership with 20 local leaders, we led a collaborative planning process that resulted in Winnebago County’s first Upward Mobility Action Plan, a comprehensive, community-driven strategy to reduce poverty and expand economic opportunity. The plan was formally introduced to the community in October 2025 alongside Mayor Tom McNamara and County Board Chairman Joe Chiarelli, and implementation is now underway.
